How to Choose a DYMO LabelManager Label Maker

LabelManager is the DYMO range for everyday labelling: shelf and bin labels, file spines, cables, storage tubs, staff lockers and equipment. The one thing to get right before you order is the tape. Every LabelManager on this page prints on D1 cassettes. D1 does not fit a LetraTag machine and it does not fit a RHINO industrial tool, and neither of those cartridges will fit a LabelManager, because the cassette bodies are different. Every machine here is genuine DYMO.

  • LabelManager 160P - the entry level handheld: QWERTY, D1 tape to 12mm, two lines, AA batteries; also as a 3 tape bundle
  • LabelManager 210D Plus - the desk sized 160P: wider body, full QWERTY keyboard, larger display, still 12mm tape
  • LabelManager 280P - the first rechargeable model, with a lithium ion pack and a PC link, on 12mm tape
  • LabelManager 360D - the first that prints 19mm D1, rechargeable, for shelf runs and racking read from a distance
  • LabelManager 420P - 19mm tape, four print lines, barcodes and a USB link, on a large backlit display for dim comms rooms
  • LabelManager Executive 640CB - the only 24mm D1 model, five lines, Bluetooth and USB-C, boxed or as the Kit in a case

Work backwards from two things: how wide a label you need, and how often the machine gets used. Tape width is the hard limit. The 160P, 210D Plus and 280P stop at 12mm, which suits file spines, drawer fronts and cable tags. The 360D and 420P go to 19mm, which is what shelf edges, tubs and door signage need to read across a room. Only the 640CB prints 24mm. Then usage: a few labels a month is 160P territory, most days is the 210D Plus, 280P or 360D, and if labelling is part of the job the 420P or 640CB pay for themselves in the first week. Whichever model you pick, order D1 tape in the widths and colours you use most, because a machine with no cassette in it does not get used.

Australian schools, offices, warehouses, clinics and workshops run LabelManager machines daily, and DymoOnline has stocked nothing but genuine DYMO since 2009. Stock up on D1 standard tape, use D1 durable tape for surfaces that get handled or wiped, keep a spare adaptor or battery from DYMO accessories on the shelf so a flat machine never stops a job, and see the software page for the 280P, 420P and 640CB computer links. Free shipping over $149 and same day despatch on orders in by 12pm AEST.
