An embosser does not print. A dial and a squeeze of the handle press each character into the tape, so the letters stand up in white against a coloured background, or as raised metal on the M1011. There is no power, no battery and no ink, and nothing to run out of except the tape itself. That is why these tools are still bought for two very different reasons: retro labelling at home, and permanent tagging on industrial plant. Both machines are genuine DYMO, and both are the kind of tool that gets handed on rather than replaced, because there is nothing electronic in them to fail.
- Organiser Xpress Pro bundle - the hand held retro embosser on 9mm plastic tape, three cassettes in the box
- RHINO M1011 heavy duty metal embossing tool kit - presses characters into 12mm aluminium and stainless steel strip
- M11-SW standard character wheel - the right reading replacement wheel for the M1011, the one it ships with fitted
- M11-RW reverse character wheel - the reverse character replacement wheel for the M1011
The choice is really plastic or metal. If the label is going on a folder, a pantry jar, a shelf, a drawer or a gift, the Xpress Pro and 9mm embossing tape is the tool and the only other decision is the tape colour. If the tag is going on a pump, a valve, a switchboard or anything outdoors that has to stay readable for years, the M1011 and metal tape is the one, because there is no adhesive to lift and no ink to fade; the tag is fixed with a screw, rivet or cable tie. The two use different tape and are not interchangeable, so order the tape that suits the machine. Neither embosser takes D1, LetraTag or RHINO printed cartridges either. If you want the retro look but on a hundred jars, or the metal durability but printed rather than stamped, that is a job for a LabelManager or a RHINO tool instead.
Households, schools, cafes and craft users buy the Xpress Pro. Maintenance crews, water authorities, mines and switchboard builders buy the M1011. DymoOnline has stocked nothing but genuine DYMO since 2009. Stock the right tape either way, 9mm embossing tape for the Xpress Pro and RHINO metal embossing tape for the M1011, and see the RHINO industrial range if you also need printed labels or asset tagging for the adhesive alternatives.
