DYMO Embossing Tape for Manual Label Embossers

Embossing tape is the original DYMO format and it needs no power, no batteries and no ink. You dial a character, squeeze the handle, and the letter is pressed into the strip so it comes up raised and white against the colour. Two kinds sit in this range: 9mm x 3m plastic strip for the classic hand embossers, and non-adhesive metal strip for permanent plates. Both are genuine DYMO, and they are made for two different tools, so match the strip to the machine before you order.

  • 1741670, 9mm x 3m white on black, 3 pack - the standard refill for everyday labelling and the classic retro look
  • 1741671, 9mm x 3m trio of colours, 3 pack - colour coding for shelves, folders and storage tubs
  • 301241 aluminium metal strip, 12mm x 4.8m - non-adhesive, softer to emboss, for asset and machine plates
  • 301242 stainless steel metal strip, 12mm x 4.8m - for heat, salt air, washdown and chemical exposure
  • Raised white characters on the plastic, struck characters on the metal; the plastic is self-adhesive, the metal is not

Take the plastic strip if you have an Organiser Xpress or an older hand embosser and want adhesive labels for jars, tubs, shelves, folders and school supplies. The 9mm plastic strip does not fit the M1011 and the metal strip does not fit the Xpress. Take the metal strip if the tag has to survive heat, weather or chemicals, remembering that metal is embossed with the M1011 heavy duty tool and carries no adhesive, so the plate has to be riveted, screwed, wired or cable tied into place. Aluminium is the default; go to stainless only when the environment argues for it.

Households, schools, workshops and makers across Australia keep embossing tape in use because the labels have a look printed tape cannot copy and the tool never runs flat, and DymoOnline has stocked nothing but genuine DYMO since 2009. The machines themselves are in embossing machines, the metal strip has its own RHINO metal embossing tape page, and for printed plastic labels instead of embossed ones look at LetraTag tape or D1 standard tape for a LabelManager.
