Non adhesive metal strip for embossed tags that outlast paint, heat, chemicals and weather.

This is not a printed tape. DYMO metal embossing tape is a 12mm wide strip of bare metal, 4.8 metres to a roll, embossed character by character with the DYMO Rhino M1011 heavy duty embossing tool. Two metals are offered here: 301241 in aluminium and 301242 in stainless steel. Because the legend is pressed into the metal rather than printed onto it, there is nothing that can fade, smudge, peel or burn away.

Choosing between them is about the environment. Aluminium is the general industrial choice, softer to emboss and the cheaper of the two, and it handles indoor and outdoor identification on shelving, cabinetry, pipework and building materials. Stainless steel is for tags that face salt air, wash down, solvents or sustained heat, which covers marine, food processing, mining and refinery work. Neither has any adhesive. The finished tag is fixed with a rivet, a screw or wire through a punched hole, which is exactly why it holds on surfaces that reject a self adhesive label.

You need the M1011 tool to use this tape and it is sold separately with its own character wheels. This tape has nothing to do with cartridge machines: it will not load into a Rhino 4200 or 6000, a LabelManager or a LetraTag, which all take printed cartridges. A 4.8 metre roll makes a large number of tags, since most run under 100mm. See both metals in embossing tape, get the tool from embossing machines, browse Rhino metal embossing tape, or use it for asset tagging.

  • Solid metal strip, 12mm wide and 4.8m long, in aluminium or stainless steel
  • Legend is embossed into the metal, so it cannot fade, smudge, peel or burn off
  • Non adhesive, so the tag is fixed by rivet, screw or wire and holds on any surface
  • Resists chemicals, abrasion and extreme weather in the field
  • Suits high and low temperature environments where printed labels fail
  • Stainless steel option for marine, food processing, mining and refinery work
  • Embossed with the DYMO Rhino M1011 hand tool, no power or software needed
  • Permanent asset and plant tags on machinery and heavy equipment
  • Pipeline, valve and underground cable identification on site
  • Tagging shelving, racking and industrial cabinetry in a warehouse
  • Marking engine and vehicle components that run hot or get washed down
  • Identifying building materials and structural components during construction
  • Marine and coastal labelling where salt air destroys adhesive labels

FAQs

The DYMO Rhino M1011 heavy duty embossing tool, which is sold separately along with its character wheels. The tool presses each character into the metal strip by hand, so there is no power supply, ribbon or software involved.
Aluminium is the general industrial choice, softer to emboss and cheaper, and it suits indoor and outdoor tagging on shelving, pipework and cabinetry. Choose stainless steel where the tag faces salt air, wash down, solvents or sustained heat, such as marine, food processing, mining and refinery work.
No. Both metals are supplied non adhesive. The finished tag is fixed with a rivet, a screw or wire through a punched hole, which is why it holds on surfaces that will not take an adhesive label.
No. This is a bare metal strip for a manual embossing tool, not a printed cartridge. Rhino industrial printers take vinyl, nylon, polyester and heat shrink cartridges, and LabelManager machines take D1 tape.
Each roll is 4.8 metres. Most embossed tags run well under 100mm, so a single roll produces a large number of them, though the exact count depends on how long you make each tag.
No. The characters are pressed into the metal rather than printed on the surface, so there is no ink or coating to fade, smudge or flake away.
