Metal embossing tape is a strip of aluminium or stainless steel that takes raised characters from a heavy duty hand tool. There is no ink, no ribbon and no adhesive, so there is nothing to fade and nothing to peel. The characters are pressed into the metal itself, which is why these tags go where a printed label would not last and where the plate can be riveted, screwed or wired into place. Take aluminium unless the environment argues for stainless. Aluminium embosses with less effort and is enough for most plant, machinery and asset plates, indoors or out. Stainless is the one to choose around heat, marine air, cleaning chemicals or washdown in food processing. Either way, work out how the plate will be fixed before you order, because the strip carries no adhesive of its own, and buy the M1011 at the same time if you do not already own one, because nothing else on the store will emboss it.
