D1 is the cassette that fits DYMO LabelManager machines, and standard D1 is the everyday version of it, the one most people use for office, school, home and light workplace labelling. Each cassette holds 7 metres of polyester tape with a split easy peel backing, and the tape and print ribbon sit together in one unit, so there is nothing to thread. Fit is the one thing to get right: D1 fits LabelManager and nothing else. It will not fit a LetraTag, and a RHINO industrial cartridge will not fit a LabelManager, because the cassette bodies are different. Everything here is genuine DYMO.

Choose the width by your machine first, then by the job. The 160P, 210D Plus and 280P take tape up to 12mm, the 360D and 420P go to 19mm, and 24mm needs the Executive 640CB. 12mm is the everyday size for file spines, drawers and cable tags, 19mm reads across a room on shelf edges and tubs, and 6mm and 9mm fit where nothing else will. Colour is about contrast and meaning: black on white is the default, black on clear disappears into the surface, white on black suits dark equipment, and yellow, red and coloured grounds carry a message on a worksite before anyone reads the words. Take the bulk bundle if 12mm black on white covers most of your labelling and you would rather not reorder every month. If the labels have to survive a workshop, a freezer or an outdoor store, look at durable D1 instead.
