The first LabelManager with rechargeable power and a computer link, still on 12mm D1 tape.

The DYMO LabelManager 280P, part number S0968980, is where the range stops running on disposable batteries. It comes with a rechargeable 7.2V lithium ion battery pack and its charging adaptor in the box, and a full charge takes about three hours, though ten minutes on charge is enough to start printing. The QWERTY keyboard and large graphical display show the label as it will print, with 6 font sizes, 6 text styles, 9 box styles and around 220 symbols and clip art images.

It also adds a USB port. Plug it into a PC or Mac, run DYMO Connect for Desktop, and you can design labels on screen and send them to the machine instead of typing them on the keypad. On the machine itself it stores nine frequently used labels, prints up to 10 copies at a time and prints up to two lines on a label. Tape is DYMO D1 only, in 6mm, 9mm and 12mm, so 12mm is the maximum width. LetraTag tape does not fit a LabelManager, and Rhino industrial cartridges do not fit either.

Take the 280P over the 210D Plus if you want to stop buying AA batteries and want the option of designing on a computer. Move past it if you need wider tape: the 360D and 420P take D1 up to 19mm and the Executive 640CB takes 24mm with Bluetooth. See the whole ladder in LabelManager label makers, reorder in D1 standard tape or D1 durable tape, find spare battery packs in DYMO accessories, and compare machines across the store in DYMO machines.

12mm. If you need 19mm labels look at the LabelManager 360D or 420P, and the Executive 640CB takes tape up to 24mm.
Yes. The box holds the label maker, the rechargeable lithium ion battery pack, the charging adaptor, a USB cable, a D1 starter cassette and the quick start guide. There are no disposable batteries to buy.
About three hours for a full charge. After roughly ten minutes on the charger you can start printing while it continues to charge.
Yes. Connect it by USB to a PC or Mac and use DYMO Connect for Desktop to lay out labels on screen and send them to the machine.
