The DYMO M5, part number S0929000, is the middle rung of the DYMO postal scale range. It is a compact black desktop scale with an LCD display, a tare function so you can weigh contents inside a satchel or carton, and a hold feature that locks the reading for ten seconds when the parcel hides the screen. It draws power over the supplied USB lead or from three AAA batteries, not included, and shuts off when left idle.

Choosing between the three models comes down to one question: what is the heaviest thing you post. The M2 reads to 2kg, the M5 to 5kg and the M10 to 10kg. Go too small and the scale gives you an overload indication instead of a weight, which leaves you guessing the bracket at the counter. The M5 is the sensible default for anyone shipping clothing, books, homewares or multi item orders, where a 2kg ceiling is reached faster than people expect.

Work from the heaviest thing you post, not the average. The M2 reads up to 2kg, the M5 up to 5kg and the M10 up to 10kg. The M5 suits most online sellers, because clothing, books and multi item orders pass 2kg sooner than people expect.
