The DYMO LabelWriter 5XL is a desktop direct thermal printer built around the four by six inch shipping label, 104 x 159mm, that Australia Post and the major couriers expect. It prints at 300 dpi, which matters more than it sounds: at that resolution barcodes and QR codes scan first time instead of holding up a driver at pickup. There is no ink, toner or ribbon, so the label roll is the only thing you ever reorder.
Automatic Label Recognition reads the installed roll and reports the label size, type and how many are left, which stops the classic mistake of starting a 200 label run with 40 labels on the spool. That feature only works with authentic DYMO labels. Connection is USB or LAN, so the 5XL can sit on a despatch bench and take jobs from several workstations rather than being tied to one computer. It runs on DYMO Connect for Desktop, on Windows 8.1 and later and macOS 10.14 and later, and carries a two year limited manufacturer warranty.
