The DYMO 1762422 is the adjustable label spool and spindle assembly used by the wide format LabelWriter 4XL and 5XL. It is the two part holder the label roll sits on: a spindle with a sliding guide that clamps the roll square so the labels feed straight and the printer does not skew or jam. It is sold as one spool.

Buy it for one of two reasons. The first is replacement, because a spool that has been dropped, cracked or lost stops the machine dead. The second is the reason most despatch benches buy one: keeping a second spool permanently loaded with your other label size means switching from 104 x 159mm courier labels to a different roll takes seconds, instead of unwinding one roll off the spindle and rewinding another. If you run two label types through one 5XL, a second spool pays for itself in handling time.

On fit, this is the wide 4XL and 5XL spool. It does not fit the LabelWriter 550 or 550 Turbo, which use a narrower spool sized for 62mm labels, and it does not fit LabelManager, LetraTag or Rhino handheld machines, which take cassettes rather than rolls. The LabelWriter 4XL and the LabelWriter 5XL. Both take the same wide roll format, so the same spool serves either machine.
No. Those machines take labels up to 62mm wide and use a narrower spool. The 1762422 is the wide 4XL and 5XL part.
So you can keep a second label type loaded and ready. Swapping a whole spool takes seconds, where unwinding one roll off the spindle and winding another on is fiddly and often creases the leading labels.
