The DYMO M2, part number S0928990, is the entry point of the DYMO postal scale range. It is a compact black desktop unit with an LCD display, a tare function for weighing contents inside a satchel or box, and a hold feature that locks the reading for ten seconds when the parcel covers the screen. It runs on three AAA batteries, not included, and shuts itself off when left idle.

The range is a ladder and the only real question is the heaviest thing you post. The M2 reads to 2kg, the M5 to 5kg and the M10 to 10kg. Buy too small and the scale simply refuses to help: put a 3kg satchel on an M2 and you get an overload indication rather than a weight, and you are back to guessing at the counter. If anything you send is likely to pass 2kg, start at the M5.

Work from the heaviest thing you post, not the average. The M2 reads up to 2kg, the M5 up to 5kg and the M10 up to 10kg. If anything you send will pass 2kg, start at the M5.
You do not get a reading. The scale shows an overload indication and you have to weigh the item somewhere else, which is why it pays to pick the capacity above your heaviest regular parcel.
DYMO does not publish a trade approval for its postal scales. Use the M2 to work out your own postage and freight brackets. Selling goods by weight in Australia requires a trade approved instrument.
DYMO sells the M5 and the M10 as USB postal scales, powered over USB and intended for use with mailing and shipping software on a PC or Mac. If that matters to you, choose the M5 or the M10.
